PLASTIC FREE JULY

Silvan Skincare and Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July is a sharp reminder of one of Silvan Skincare’s most important values. It is a key initiative of the Plastic Free Foundation and has become a global social movement where millions of individuals each year change their behaviour in favour of avoiding single-use plastics and plastic waste.

We aim to be plastic-free wherever we practically can. We also wish to minimise the amount of non-essential packaging, whether this is plastic, card or paper. This looks like:

1. Our labels are not plastic-coated

Labels that are NOT plastic-coated, meaning that they can stain with oily fingers. We hope that you appreciate this choice.

2. Our refills have aluminium screw top lids

Offering aluminium screw top lids for refills of Face Oil, Body Oil and Scar Oil so that pumps can be reused rather than thrown away.

3. Multipurpose skincare products

Offering multi-use products like Radiance Balm - cleanser, treatment and overnight oil in one. Plus our five Body Oils which can be used for body, bath, massage, hair, cuticles and even beards!

4. No unecessary packaging

Our skincare products do NOT come inside boxes - it may look pretty and tidier on a shop shelf, but any packaging that is destined straight for the bin is just not required in our opinion.

5. We reuse packaging materials

We reuse all clean parcel packing for our mail orders - why throw it away, if it is still good for purpose? This means that some of your orders may well be packed with recycled cardboard.

6. Recycled paper

We use recycled paper and undyed card wherever possible. This can go into your paper recycling (or in your compost heap!).

7. We use suppliers who do not use plastic packaging

We seek out suppliers that send out our ingredients and other supplies using non-plastic packaging.

8. Our customers can buy directly from us

Shortening the supply chain by offering customers the opportunity to buy goods directly from us at markets, events, workshops and collection points to minimise postal packaging.

9. Being open to feedback and suggestions from customers and experts on how to improve policies and practices.
