Oily skin is a result of the sebaceous glands in the skin producing too much natural oils. It is considered a skin type rather than a condition, meaning that you are usually born with it.
Signs of oily skin are shiny skin and a feeling of greasiness even after cleansing. Breakouts are more common as the sebum mixes with dead skin cells getting stuck in pores. Oily skin is an advantage as you become older as the skin produces less sebum, so you may show signs of ageing a little later than those with dry skin.
You can help oily skin by not overdoing the skincare routine. Harsh cleansers will strip the oil from the skin and it will then produce more to compensate. You will still need moisturiser, even oily skin can dry out.
Tips: Take care in the sun and be sure to wear a sunscreen as this can increase sebum production in the skin.
